About

Tokyo-based. We carry Japanese companies to the audiences they want abroad.

Your Japanese material already says what you do. What it does not do is reach the people you want abroad.

We decide who that audience is first, then build the film, the photography and the words around them — so the result reads as written for that reader, not translated from another page.

How we work

We start with the audience, not the material: who they are, what they need to understand, and what would make them get in touch. The film, the photography and the words are built around that decision, together rather than in separate passes.

Who we work with

Japanese companies whose next customers, distributors or guests are abroad — and who have Japanese material but nothing an English-speaking reader can act on.

What we do

Three things, which usually run together. We write the English that reaches the reader. We make the film and the photography on site. And we settle the brand story — who it is for, what it is, why it is made this way — before either of the other two.

How a project runs

  1. A conversation about the audience: who you want to reach, and what they need to understand.
  2. A written brief: the message, the order a reader meets things in, and the terms that must not drift.
  3. The making: film, photography and copy, shot and written from that brief rather than translated into it.
  4. Delivery: material that works in a meeting, on your site and in a quotation, without being remade for each.

Common questions

Do you work in Japanese as well as English?

Yes. The work is bilingual by nature — we read your Japanese material and write the English version. Your Japanese stays yours.

Where are you based?

Tokyo. We shoot on site in Japan and deliver to clients abroad, in English and Japanese.

Can you work with our existing designer or agency?

Yes. The brief and the glossary are the handover, so a designer or a developer can build on them without guessing what the words mean.
